Vegan Terry's Chocolate Orange bar makes a feature in these fudgy brownies!
I first made vegan chocolate orange brownies two years ago when Galaxy first released their vegan chocolate orange bar and it changed my whole view on the flavours of chocolate orange. Ever since then, I've been on a chocolate orange rampage and it is by my far my favourite flavour to have in a chocolate bar. then Terry's released their vegan chocolate orange bar and it tastes exactly like the original. So it was in that moment I knew it had to feature in a brownie and it worked beautifully. I am however still holding out for a vegan Terry's chocolate orange, like not the bar but the O.G, the ones to expect in your stocking and when that day comes I will be over the moon! Until, simply cut up some of the vegan chocolate bar to get (rough) segments and it will taste incredible. I've ensured these brownies are beautifully fudgy and oozing with chocolate plus a little zest on top for some extra citrus.
I have made a list of other vegan chocolate orange bars that can be made into brownies - I know what a way to spend ones time right? But it really made me wonder which one tastes the best. so whilst it might take a while to get through them, be sure to occasionally see other chocolate brownie recipes popping up especially if you're a lover of Terry's because I feel that they set the bar high and I would love to see if it can be topped.

Notes:
- Follow the method as best as you can to get the optimum brownie - changing the method can change the end result
- For best results, place the brownies in the fridge for about 2-3 hours if you have time to get an even better texture and less cakey brownie.
- If you cannot find the vegan terry's chocolate orange bar, any chocolate orange bar will work.
- These can easily be made with non-vegan ingredients if you cannot access them but may change the texture of the brownie - for example you can use dairy butter and yoghurt if this is easier for you, same with the chocolate.
Ingredients
- 220g plain flour
- 50g cocoa powder
- 350g caster sugar
- 5g baking powder
- 2g salt
- 170g vegan butter
- 150g vegan terry's chocolate orange
- 130g Alpo greek style yoghurt
- zest of 1 orange
- juice of 1 orange (about 80ml)
Topping
- Vegan terry's chocolate orange bar cut into 16 pieces
- Orange Zest
Method
- Preheat your oven to 180℃ and line an 8x8 inch baking tray with baking paper.
- Melt together the chocolate orange bar and butter either on a bain-marie on in the microwave then leave to cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt then add the orange zest.
- Add the sugar, chocolate/butter mix, Alpro yoghurt and orange juice to a bowl and use an electric whisk to mix on medium-high speed for about 2 minutes till smooth.
- Fold in the dry ingredients till just combined.
- Spoon the brownie batter into the lined baking tray then top the batter with the cut up pieces of chocolate orange.
- Bake for 35 minutes. The centre of the brownies should still be slightly gooey when a knife is inserted, you don't want the knife to be completely clean as they will be overcooked and dry out.
- Leave to cool in the tin completely before cutting into squares and serving.
- I recommend placing in the fridge for about 2-3 hours to firm up for an even fudgier texture.
- Best stored in an airtight container for up to 3/4 days. Enjoy!
